LILO KINNE - MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCES
recorded on videos and CD's

HISTORY:

During my travels, my primary residence was in Stuttgart (1972-78), in San Francisco (1979), in Tokyo (1980), in Frankfurt (1981), and I moved to Paris in 1982.

From 1982-1989, I lived and worked in Paris, and created the ART SPACE - PARIS (which was first in the Quartier Latin, 5ieme arrondissement, on Rue Saint Jacques, and later in Les Halles, the Premier arrondissement, on Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau).

From 1976 on, I held MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCEs with elements of MULTIDIMENSIONAL DANCE and MULTIDIMENSIONAL THEATER.

While in Stuttgart (1976-78), San Francisco (1979), Tokyo (1980), Frankfurt (1981), in Paris (1982-89), and later in New York City (1989-Present), I choreographed for multicultural groups of people of all skin colors and called this art performance group LILO KINNE - MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCE GROUP. Throughout the 7 years in Paris, I held MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCES in the Jardin du Luxembourg near the Sorbonne and during the opening receptions at the ART SPACE - Paris, first in the Quartier Latin, and later in the Premier Arrondissement at Les Halles.

In 1976, I created my 'Expression Dance' and 'Evolution Theater' in Stuttgart, Germany. It became an integrated part of my MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCEs throughout the following years. Based on the definition of early Greek Theater, where the observer was confronted with experiences of a very special nature for his / her learning process, I intuitively performed pieces, in which I expressed my essential personal experiences in front of an audience. The essence of theater is to transfer personal experiences, even of abstract nature, to an audience, so that the viewer learns from observation.

In the ART SPACEs, in the different cities (Stuttgart, San Francisco, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Paris, New York), art exhibitions and art events with MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCES incorporating elements of Dance and Theater were held by me throughout the years.

In 1985, I participated in the International Dance Festival in Cannes at the Cotes d'Azur, France. At this event, I showed my MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCE and choreographed while dancing.

At this meeting of contemporary international choreographers, dancers, and dance companies from all over the world, I demonstrated that choreography can become totally intuitive work, where the choreographer and dancer become one and the same, creating the piece while letting the energy flow freely through the body.

Since the 1970s, I worked as an artist, traveled extensively, and lived within countries such as France, Germany, India, Nepal, Burma, Thailand, Japan, Egypt, Greece, USA, Switzerland, and many other countries.

My life as an artist spans over the past 35 years. Throughout this time, I have presented my works of art in different media and held art events. My exhibitions are comprised of single and multi-panel paintings, photographs, works on paper, sculptures, print and photo editions, multimedia installations, art audios / art videos / art CD's, as well as MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCEs which integrate elements of dance/choreography & theater, as well as body painting.

Since every moment in time is different, and all is always in flow, things develop in synchronicity. My art performance/dance & theater is never repeated in the same way. Every time I perform, I perform uniquely and intuitively. I let the energy flow through me.

For the first time, in 1985, on an international level, in the field of contemporary choreography and dance, I presented, explained, and performed before leading dance companies such as the Stuttgart Ballet with Marcia Haydee as its choreographer (Stuttgart), Ballet of the 20th Century with Bejart as its choreographer (Brussels), Bella Levitsky Dance Theater with Bella Levitsky as its choreographer (Los Angeles) among others, my art performance concept of MULTIDIMENSIONAL DANCE, which, as I defined it as a philosopher, shows life in its flow within and through the body of a human being.

Even though the expression MULTIDIMENSIONAL/MULTIDIMENSIONALITY developed in my philosophy and art already in the mid-1970s, it is found in almost all of my works since the '80s. Paintings, sculptures, written texts, art performances, multimedia installations, art audios, art videos, art CD's, as well as other works, reflect my deep belief in our existence being MULTIDIMENSIONAL. MULTIDIMENSIONALITY definitely characterizes and marks the majority of my work since the 'Frankfurt Period'.

My son, Satya Seth, who names himself ZOOM, and was born in Frankfurt in 1981, creates music for some of my MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCEs and multimedia installations.

Zoom grew up in different cultures, traveled with me extensively, is trilingual (he speaks French, German, and English). He performs with me internationally and his intuitive ability 'to feel into situations' and 'to be in synchronicity and flow' makes him a great collaborator in my art projects.

Many of the international curators are very interested in my single and multipanel paintings, multimedia installations, and the music and live action which I create for my MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCEs in cooperation with young international artists in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles, different cities in Germany, and numerous other places worldwide.

Some of the international MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCE PROJECTS are recorded as MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCE VIDEOS , segments of which can be viewed online at this website, and MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCE CD's which are edited in limited edition.

MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCE

During the ART PERFORMANCE at Crobar on April 16, 2005, I choreographed while dancing and held an ART PERFORMANCE WHICH INCLUDED ADDITIONALLY "SPOKEN WORD".

On this as well as some of the following images, you can see me on the large dance floor of CROBAR, one of the most important clubs in Manhattan, during my "ART PERFORMANCE WITH SPOKEN WORD & BODY PAINTING".

This event was documented in approximately 1,000 photos (taken by 3 photographers who cooperate with me) as well as in two art films co-created by me together with two film producers.

The action captured by one of the cameras was shown on 4 large screens at the main room of CROBAR, were I performed LIVE ON THE DANCE FLOOR in front of many guests.

Into this ART PERFORMANCE WITH DANCE & SIMULTANIOUS CHOREOGRAPHY, I included Olawale a young spirit dancer from Nigeria as well as Mindy, an African American female contemporary dancer.

Since the 1970s, I used "SPOKEN WORD" first in front of the tape recorder and then in front of the camera. A simple extension became the "SPOKEN WORD" in front of the microphone combined with music in recent years.

My "Spoken Word" is the philosophical expression of the human existence in its depth. It corresponds with what people feel in their lives when confronted with pain and suffering!

The hardship many of the rappers had to endure growing up have to do with the social injustice in their lives of which I am very conscious!

In the early 1970s in Europe, I was one of the pioneers in the field of "WRITTEN WORD" on paintings, art objects, which were objects of my daily live transformed into art.

In Germany at the time, and later in Paris, I wore clothes and shoes which I had painted, and I called this "TRANSCENDENCE OF MATTER".

I go into the recording booth and perform in togetherness with "Spoken Word" artists and rappers to express the nature of our lives, of our human existence in general and specifically.

Transcending the pain and feelings of loss and suffering in life's process is my way of giving, caring and loving humankind!

"SPOKEN WORD ART PERFORMANCES" during art events in cooperation with young artists (chosen by me) are documented by some of my photographers and some of my film producers who work closely with me to create art films as documentary material in cooperation with me.

These documentary films are destined for the archives of the international fine art museums all over the world.
