Lilo Kinne ART SPACEs
history of the exhibition & art performance spaces in different cities:

Stuttgart, San Francisco, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Paris, and New York

Since the 1970s, I have developed international art projects with ART SPACEs in different cultures, where I arranged art exhibitions and held art performances:

ART SPACE - STUTTGART (1975 - 1978)

ART SPACE - SAN FRANCISCO (1979)

ART SPACE - TOKYO (1980)

ART SPACE - FRANKFURT (1981)

ART SPACE - PARIS (1982 - 1989)

ART SPACE - NEW YORK (1989 - Present)

The ART SPACE originated in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1975. In the ART SPACE - SAN FRANCISCO (1979), the ART SPACE - TOKYO (1980), and the ART SPACE - FRANKFURT (1981), I presented MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART in its various forms.

Even though the expression MULTIDIMENSIONAL / MULTIDIMENSIONALITY developed in my philosophy and art already in the mid-1970s, it was now found in almost all of my works.

Paintings, sculptures, written texts, art performances, multimedia installations, audios, videos, as well as other works, reflect my deep belief in our existence being MULTIDIMENSIONAL.

MULTIDIMENSIONALITY definitely characterizes and marks the majority of my work since the Frankfurt period.

ART SPACE HISTORY /

Lilo Kinne about the ART SPACE:

Throughout the past 25 years, I presented works of art and held art events / exhibits of my own art in cooperation with artists from all over the world (paintings, sculptures, photographs, multimedia installations, audios / videos, art CD's, art performances, and body painting). I still continue to do so.

I was born in 1950 in the Saar region (which was French at the time), and my life as an artist spans over the past 25 years.

Since the 1970s, I have been working as an artist, traveled extensively, and lived within countries such as France, Germany, India, Nepal, Burma, Thailand, Japan, Egypt, Greece, Switzerland, USA, and many others.

During my travels, my primary residence has been in Stuttgart (1972 - 78), in San Francisco (1979), in Tokyo (1980), and in Frankfurt (1981). In 1982, I moved to Paris.

From 1982 - 1989, I lived and worked in Paris, and created the ART SPACE - PARIS (which was first in the Quartier Latin, 5ieme arrondissement, on Rue Saint Jacques, and later in Les Halles, the premier arrondissement, on Rue Jean - Jacques Rousseau).

From 1976 on, I held MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCES with elements of dance & theater. While in Stuttgart (1976 - 78), San Francisco (1979), Tokyo (1980), Frankfurt (1981), in Paris (1982 - 89), and later in New York City (1989 - Present), I choreographed for multicultural groups of people of all skin colors, and called this dance & theater group LILO KINNE - MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCE GROUP.

In the ART SPACEs, in the different cities (Stuttgart, San Francisco, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Paris, New York) art exhibitions & art events with MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCES were held.

During the time of the ART SPACEs - PARIS, in 1985, I participated in the International Dance Festival in Cannes, at the Cotes d'Azur in France. At this event, I showed my MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCE and choreographed while dancing. At this meeting of contemporary international choreographers, dancers and dance companies from all over the world, I demonstrated that choreography can become totally intuitive work, where the choreographer & dancer become one and the same, creating the piece while letting the energy flow freely through the body.

Since every moment is different, and all is always in flow, things develop in synchronicity. My art performance / dance is never repeated in the same way. Every time I perform, I perform uniquely and intuitively. I let the energy flow through me.

For the first time, in 1985, on an international level, in the field of contemporary choreography / dance, I presented, explained & performed before leading dance companies such as the Stuttgart Ballet (Stuttgart), Ballet of the 20th Century (Brussels), Bella Levitsky Dance Theater (Los Angeles) among others, my art performance concept of MULTIDIMENSIONAL DANCE, which, as I defined it as a philosopher, shows life in its flow within and through the body of a human being.

In New York City, I am a member of the Dance Theater Workshop, and I present my work within this and other national as well as international dance and theater organizations, where I participate in panel discussions and conferences.

My son, Satya Seth, who names himself ZOOM, and was born in Frankfurt in 1981, creates music for some of my MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCES and multimedia installations. ZOOM grew up in different cultures, traveled with me extensively, is, like myself, trilingual (he speaks English, French & German), and he performs with me internationally. Zoom's intuitive ability "to feel into situations" and "to be in synchronicity and flow" make him a great collaborator in my art projects, and he is responsible for the electronic media operations at the ART SPACE-NEW YORK of International Art Research, Inc..

Numerous young artists from the field of fine arts including painting, works on paper, sculpture, photography, as well as digital art including video, and art performance are collaborating with me as well as integrated into my own work.

Many of the international curators are very interested in my paintings and multimedia installations (which integrate elements such as hand written texts, photographs, audio & video tapes), and the music and live action which I create for my MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART PERFORMANCES in cooperation with young international artists in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Munich, and numerous other places worldwide.

Additional Facts:

In New York in 1995, the book LILO KINNE MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART was published in a limited edition of 2,500. It was printed in Germany in 3 languages (English, French, and German) by a printing company which prints for firms like Mercedes, Porsche, Bosch, and other international companies. After its publication in 1995, and in the following years, signed, numbered, and dedicated books have been given to internationally known gallerists, art collectors, museums curators, and members of the press in the USA, Japan, Europe, and other parts of the world.

In 1997, Museum Wuerth, a private museum in Germany, acquired certain of her works valued at US $238,000. Several of the works which are shown in the book, LILO KINNE MULTIDIMENSIONAL ART, are now part of the German museum and part of other important international collections.

With the ART SPACE - NEW YORK of International Art Research (which, in New York, originated in SoHo at 118 Spring Street, and then moved to 252 Lafayette Street, between Spring & Prince Streets), I have arranged exchange exhibitions with other international art spaces.

After the closing of the downtown exhibition space, the ART SPACE - NEW YORK is now situated in Weehawken, on the other side of the Hudson River, overlooking the skyline of Manhattan. The building of the ART SPACE - NEW YORK has been once a manufacturing building for ship kitchens, and has been transformed into loft spaces.

Ever since I moved from Paris to New York City in 1989, I have worked in studios in different parts of the world (to name a few larger cities besides the many smaller places: New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Stuttgart, Munich, Bombay, Tokyo) and have developed international art projects.

Through living in so many cultures and spending half of each year traveling, I have become trilingual, and speak French, German, and English fluently.

After parting with the New York gallery, which I co-founded in SoHo, and co-directed from 1989 - 1993, after moving from Paris to New York, I continued solely with the ART SPACE - NEW YORK of International Art Research, where I hold art events / exhibits of my own art in cooperation with artists from all over the world.

In the New York gallery, which I co-owned from 1989 - 1993, well known European & American artists were exhibited. To name a few, we showed works by Arman, Ben, Beuys, Kiefer, Polke, Richter, Francis, Hockney, Lichtenstein, Rauschenberg, and Warhol.

In addition, 4 exhibitions of my works of art were held each year at the ART SPACE - NEW YORK at 118 Spring Street, and also, from 1992 on, at the ART SPACE - NEW YORK at 252 Lafayette Street in SoHo. The gallery participated in major international art fairs.

Throughout the years, my work has been represented in many international art fairs such as FIAC Paris, Art Chicago, ART Los Angeles, Art Basel, Art Miami, Art Cologne, and ARCO Madrid.

Numerous international collectors, private, corporate and public, have acquired my paintings, works on paper, multimedia installation works, art audios / videos / CD's, photo & print editions, and Oeuvres d'Art Originales - Pret-a-Porter.
